Guy Kovner left Israel in the mid-nineties with the desire to learn to train dogs professionally. He enrolled in the highly regarded Tom Rose School for Dog Trainers outside of St. Louis, MO. Guy spent 2 years learning basic and advanced dog training techniques for both companion and working dogs. He stayed on for an additional year as an instructor and principal trainer. From there he accepted a position as the sole trainer for Patrick K9 in Sonoma County, CA, where he trained an average of 10 dogs daily for the public. In 1999, he opened Dogwood Hill Training Kennels nestled here in the Blue Ridge mountains of VA. His primary goal is to help dogs understand their “job description” and to facilitate an understanding between handler and canine. This mutual understanding develops and deepens the relationship between the two and gives Guy great satisfaction in his life’s work.
